GRE Exam Formats

GRE Exam Format has three sections consisting of 82 questions which take 3 hours 45 minutes. The three sections are quantitative reasoning, verbal reasoning, and analytic writing assessment

However, the GRE Exam Format for GRE General Tests and subject-specific tests differs. GRE General Exam asks questions about various concepts suitable for all the candidates. GRE General Exam has two forms: computer-based and paper-based. Moreover, GRE General Exam Format has 82 questions. On the other hand, GRE subject-specific exam is confined to a subject and assess the candidate's proficiency in subjects like English, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, and psychology. Herein, the GRE subject-specific subject test has 66-230 questions which take 2 hours 50 minutes.

GRE Syllabus 2022

The GRE Exam Syllabus 2022 emphasizes quantitative reasoning, verbal reasoning, and analytical writing assessment. The GRE Exam Syllabus 2022 quantitative reasoning section has algebra, calculus, geometry, data analysis, statistics, and arithmetic. The verbal reasoning section of GRE Exam Syllabus 2022 has questions about reading comprehension, sentence completion and sentence equivalence. The Verbal reasoning Section assesses the candidate's ability to understand the text, summarize it, structure the test and understands the words and their meanings. Moreover, other concepts are analogy, grammar, Venn diagram, direction and adjectives.

GRE Test Pattern for Computer- delivered Test

The pattern for GRE Computer-delivered test has three sections of quantitative reasoning, verbal reasoning and analytical writing. Moreover, the quantitative section has further two sections of 40 questions, verbal reasoning has two sections of 40 questions and, analytical writing has 1 section with two tasks.

In addition, timings for all the sections of GRE Computer-delivered test range from 60-70 minutes.

GRE Test Pattern for Paper-Delivered Test

The pattern for GRE Paper-based test has three sections similar to the computer-based test. However, in the paper-based exam, the analytical writing section has two sections with two tasks, verbal reasoning has two sections with 50 questions, and quantitative reasoning has two sections with 50 questions.

In addition, the timings for all the sections of the GRE Paper-delivered test range from 60-80 minutes.
